Dr. Jay LaBine MD, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. LaBine serves as our CEO and owner of DYAMIC CAPTIONING. He has dedicated his life to wellness and is a committed advocate to serving the needs of the hearing impaired community. Jay provides our company with the insight to exceed our industry needs, and the direction to propel us moving forward. He is a board certified General and Trauma Surgeon and also serves as Medical Director at Priority Health. Prior to joining Priority Health, Dr. LaBine also served as chief of surgery and trauma director at St. Mary’s Health Care. Jay is a board certified surgeon specializing in kidney transplants, and earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota. He is married to Gayle, his wife of 18 years, and has 5 children.
Craig Wilson, President
Craig Wilson brings 30 years of practical experience to our clients, and his duties include account development and client support in both the English and Spanish marketplace. His most important function is to bring to bear the proper resources to best serve our clients, and to create innovative solutions for our industry’s challenges moving forward. Craig has practical experience in client services, workflow management and logistical support. Previously, Craig serviced as Director of Sales at Unicast, Inc. He is married (Anne) and has 2 daughters, and in his spare time he can be found chasing his family around to various events and on the golf course.
Brenda Clark, Sr. Vice President, Corporate Operations
Ms. Clark has successfully paired her acumen for business operations and finance with her strong entrepreneurial spirit, to guide and grow companies in the U.S. and abroad. As Director of Operations, she manages the organization, including the daily operations, production and finance. She also directs the growth and profitability of the company. Prior to joining DYNAMIC, Ms. Clark worked for two decades in the food-processing arena. There, her achievements include being part of the senior management team of a food-processing manufacturer, which went from its start up phase to annual sales exceeding $50 million in two years. As Director of Operations during this explosive growth, she was responsible for managing and maintaining two facilities including the production, inventory, logistics, product quality and a staff of more than 100. She also maintained direct customer contact for key national and international accounts. Ms. Clark was also Director of Operations for an outstanding joint venture in Germany that designed, built and operated a plant that manufactures food ingredients. She also has extensive sales experience with international corporations.
Tom Mikkelsen, Vice President, Chief Technology Officer
Tom Mikkelsen has focused his broadcast engineering career on applying technology to making organizations and teams operate more effectively. Previously, Mikkelsen served as Vice President for Production and Operations at Starz Encore Group in Denver, where he was responsible for Starz production, engineering, transmission and operations. Mikkelsen also served as one of the senior executives at AT&T Digital Media Centers, now Comcast Media Center, also in Denver. His broadcast industry career spans technology management experience with such prominent firms as Vyvx, Cycle Sat, Tribune Broadcasting, WGN-TV, and Motorola. Mikkelsen holds a BSE degree in industrial management and is active in SBE, IEEE, and SMPTE. Mikkelsen is a SMPTE Fellow.
Ana Villafranco, Vice President, Spanish Operations
Ana Villafranco has the distinction of being the first person in the United States to perform Spanish real-time captioning. She has parlayed that achievement and her business acumen into managing the daily operations and training for DYNAMIC, as well as the nation’s only internal training and quality assurance program for Spanish captioners. As Vice President, Ms. Villafranco’s responsibilities include managing staff and workflow and assuring the smooth delivery of services to the Company’s many clients. Performing quality control checks and ongoing staff training are two of Ms. Villafranco’s most important daily duties. Like many successful captioners, Ms. Villafranco graduated in the top tier from a leading court reporting college. She coupled this accomplishment with her fluency in English and Spanish and the aptitude for teaching and business management to go on to become a leader in the nation’s Spanish closed captioning industry.
Jon DeBlaey, IT Support Services Manager
Jon DeBlaey has been working in media and technical support for over 10 years. His knowledge and experience in audio and video post production environments, as well as his expertise in the implementation and operation of computer systems, help drive our media workflows. Behind the scenes, he is an integral part in the setup and daily maintenance of the DYNAMIC data infrastructure. Jon has a personable approach to technical support. He works with clients and staff on a daily basis to troubleshoot, educate, and help smooth the gap between people and technology. In his spare time, Jon can be found on his sailboat enjoying the waters of Lake Michigan.
Richard Stubbe, Senior Consultant
Mr. Stubbe’s ties with closed captioning run deep. While serving as Director of Network Operations for ABC Television in New York, he was responsible for helping to develop and implement the closed captioning system, as it exists today. As Chairman of the ABC Committee on Closed Captioning, he worked with broadcast engineers at ABC and PBS to develop the standards for line 21 captioning. Mr. Stubbe also helped create the National Captioning Institute, a non-profit company, which was responsible for fostering the widespread adoption of closed captioning. During the 1980's, with the help of many motion picture and television stars, Mr. Stubbe produced a number of public service announcements for television that promoted closed captioning. Mr. Stubbe is a former member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is currently an advisor to the Board of Directors of The American Women in Radio and Television.
Louis J. Maltese, Senior Consultant
Mr. Maltese laid the foundation for his career in the sales of film and video services in New York City at the big apple’s WPIX-TV, at a time when commercials were presented on film. After being responsible for the production and coordination of television spots in the nation’s largest TV market, he began selling film processing services for Movie Lab. Mr. Maltese followed the industry’s transition to video, and has sold video duplication and other video services for some of the most successful video production companies in New York. He provides a wealth of information about TV station and network operations as well as film and video production to DYNAMIC CAPTIONING.
John Leonard, Director, Client Services
Mr. Leonard brings more than 35 years of customer service experience to DYNAMIC CAPTIONING, including managing customer accounts and projects, purchasing, staffing, training and financial management. His responsibilities include ensuring the closed captioning needs of our customers are met, providing for a smooth flow of operations and designing and implementing the ongoing training program for the Company’s closed captioners. Prior to joining us in 2001, Mr. Leonard founded, owned and managed a variety of food service businesses. Among his accomplishments, he was Vice President of Special Events for a major restaurant group in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics and Para Olympics, where he directed offsite and concession food operations.
David Berends, Real-Time Traffic Manager
Mr. Berends manages the workflow of real-time captioning, serving as the primary liaison with customers and coordinating and scheduling the Company’s team of real- time captioning writers. He also coordinates with the client services group to insure the organization exceeds its customers’ expectations. Mr. Berends has worked in this unique niche of closed captioning since 1999. His earlier career focused on inventory
management, purchasing and enhancing customer satisfaction for companies in the B2B marketplace.
Dagmar Hintz – Senior Editor/Quality Assurance/Training and Development
Ms. Dagmar Hintz brings a multi-faceted background to the DYNAMIC CAPTIONING team utilizing her educational background in the fields of Education and TV/Radio Journalism, along with ten years of experience in Community Radio, with a focus on radio production, copy-writing, proof-reading, on-air talent and underwriting development. Ms. Hintz has been an integral part of the DYNAMIC CAPTIONING team for over five years, helping to develop value-added services to our clients by spearheading, developing, maintaining and improving our Quality Assurance department. She is committed to maintaining the highest possible quality-control standards in the industry. Ms. Hintz is also responsible for trouble-shooting, quality control reviews, on-going staff training and development of new captioning products and services. Previous to her 15 years of experience in Media, Ms. Hintz enjoyed over 20 years in the fields of Personnel Management and Sales. In her spare time, Ms. Hintz enjoys travel and the company of her three grown daughters.
